Lot 86:
Description
A pair of vintage American-made leg irons manufactured by the Peerless Handcuff Co. of Springfield, Massachusetts. These restraints are constructed from nickel-plated steel and feature two adjustable, ratcheting cuffs connected by a long, heavy-gauge steel chain. The left cuff housing is stamped with the serial number 25295 and a small letter U, while the upper bow is marked PEERLESS HANDCUFF CO. and SPRINGFIELD MA. The right cuff housing is stamped with the model number 705C, and the upper bow is marked MADE IN U.S.A. and PATENTED. The set includes two original-style nickel-plated barrel keys, each featuring a circular bow with raised lettering reading PEERLESS HANDCUFF and a double-lock pin on the end.
Condition report:
The leg irons are in good vintage condition. The nickel plating remains largely intact across the primary surfaces. There is visible surface oxidation and light pitting present, particularly along the inner and outer edges of the bows. The ratcheting mechanism and locks are in functional working order.
