Description
This Spreewerk manufactured P.38 semi-automatic pistol is chambered in 9mm and features a standard 5 inch barrel with fixed front and rear sights. The left side of the slide is marked with the model designation P.38, the manufacturer code cyq, and the serial number 2401 k. The right side of the slide displays two eagle over 88 Waffenamt inspection marks flanking an eagle over swastika firing proof. The frame displays a matching serial number 2401 k along with an eagle over 88 proof mark. The barrel is a mismatched component with the lug marked with serial number 7124 h. The blued finish exhibits thinning and wear characteristic of late-war production, showing rough machining marks on the slide and frame. The pistol is fitted with dark brown ribbed synthetic grips, with the name Aurelie hand-scratched into the surface of the left panel. Accessories include one detachable box magazine, a brown suede zippered soft case, and a post-war black leather flap holster marked T.o.E.Pist.38.Kal.9mm BW and dated 3/58. A provided U.S. Forces capture certificate dated December 11, 1945, is included, although it specifies serial numbers 7496 and 4892, which do not match the markings on this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The pistol is in fair to good condition, showing significant bluing wear and thinning across all surfaces, particularly on the slide and leading edges. Scattered light surface oxidation and handling marks are present throughout. The barrel is mismatched to the frame and slide. The action appears to function correctly, though it has not been function tested or live-fired. The synthetic grips show typical handling marks and the mentioned hand-scribed name. The post-war holster is in good condition with supple leather and intact stitching.
