The reverse panels provide descriptive text, stating that Hercules HiVel No. 2 Military Rifle Powder was developed primarily for loading the Springfield, Krag, and other types of large capacity cartridge cases and can also be used in most of the bottleneck cartridges. It features the Hercules trademark logo showing the hero and the text Hercules Smokeless Powders. Side markings include MADE IN U.S.A. and the bottom edge reads PRINTED IN U.S.A. Each can bears a handwritten notation on the top shoulder stating 48 Gr. – 180 Bullet. Both containers are fitted with original knurled metal screw-top lids.
Condition report:
The cans are in good vintage condition, exhibiting common signs of age and shelf wear. Physical attributes include scattered minor scuffs, light surface scratches, and small instances of oxidation on the knurled metal caps and along the soldered seams and bottom edges. A few small dings are present on the metal bodies, primarily near the corners. The lithographed graphics and text remain vibrant and fully legible. The metal screw caps are present and show moderate surface oxidation but remain functional. These containers are stated to be full, totaling 2 lbs. of propellant.
