Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 169:
Sold for: $55
Description
This bulk lot consists of 100 rounds of 7mm Mauser military-surplus centerfire rifle ammunition. The cartridges are configured with bottlenecked brass cases and silver-colored spitzer projectiles, likely featuring cupronickel or nickel-plated steel jackets. All visible markings indicate production by Fabrique Nationale (FN) in Herstal, Belgium. Key markings transcribed from the headstamps include the manufacturer letters F and N flanking two-digit production years: examples include FN 46, FN 51, and FN 54, signifying manufacture in 1946, 1951, and 1954, respectively. The primers are fitted with black sealant typical of military-specification loads from this era. This ammunition is presented loose in a clear plastic bag and shows signs of long-term storage consistent with surplus material.
Condition report:
The brass cartridge cases exhibit significant tarnish and a dark patina across the majority of the lot, with localized areas of light surface oxidation consistent with long-term storage. The silver-toned projectiles show minor surface wear and occasional discoloration. The primers appear intact with visible sealant. The ammunition is live; however, we have not function-tested this ammunition and it is sold as-is for collectible or component use.
