Description
A Spanish M1964 knife bayonet, designed for the CETME Model C battle rifle. The steel blade features a single fuller and a characteristic slight bolo swell toward the point. The obverse ricasso is stamped with the Spanish Army crest, featuring the Eagle of Saint John, above inspector markings. The reverse ricasso bears the stamped serial number ET 5986 C, signifying service with the Spanish Army (Ejercito de Tierra), and the manufacturer mark for Empresa Nacional Santa Barbara, which consists of a gear wheel motif. The hilt is constructed with a muzzle ring on the crossguard and fitted with black checkered composite grips. The bayonet is accompanied by its metal scabbard and a canvas web belt frog with metal snap-button closures.
Condition report:
The bayonet is in fair condition. The blade shows significant overall surface oxidation and pitting. The metal components of the hilt, crossguard, and pommel exhibit a dark patina and surface rust. The composite grips remain intact with light handling wear. The metal scabbard is damaged at the distal end, with the tip and chape missing. The canvas frog is in good condition with minor age-related soiling and oxidation to the metal hardware.
