Lot 179:
Sold for: $30
Description
This is a United States military-issue wool flannel field shirt, a standard component of the US Army uniform during the Second World War era. The shirt is constructed from olive drab wool flannel and features a traditional pointed collar with a button-down front. It is equipped with two chest pockets, each featuring a scalloped flap secured by a single button. The sleeves terminate in simple button cuffs. This pattern is characteristic of the M1937 wool field shirt. An interior neck tag is present, printed with the numbers 15-33, representing standard military sizing for a 15-inch neck and 33-inch sleeve length.
Condition report:
The shirt displays signs of service wear and long-term storage, characterized by significant wrinkling throughout the fabric. Several buttons are missing from the front closure placket; while the pocket buttons remain, at least three buttons appear to be missing from the lower half of the main closure. The wool material appears generally intact, with no major holes, fraying, or repairs observed in the photographs.
