Sold for: $275
Description
This ASFA Ankara Model 1938 Mauser is a bolt action military rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser. The rifle is equipped with a full-length barrel featuring a hooded front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated for long-range use. The metal components exhibit a blued finish, which shows characteristic thinning and surface wear associated with military service. Key markings include the Turkish crescent and star symbol on the receiver ring above the designations T C, AS FA, ANK ARA, K. KALE, and the production date 1941. The serial number IF 52578 is stamped on the left side of the receiver, and matching serial number 52578 appears on the bolt handle and the buttplate. An import mark near the muzzle on the barrel is transcribed as C.A.I. GEORGIA VT. on the top line and GERMANY 1938 8MM on the bottom line. The firearm is fitted with a full-length wood stock that includes a semi-pistol grip, exhibiting various handling marks, dings, and scratches consistent with its age and history. This lot includes a cleaning rod and a green fabric sling attached to the standard military swivels. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal finish displays a mix of original bluing and areas of thinning, with some light scratches and small patches of surface oxidation present. The wood stock remains structurally sound but shows a significant amount of handling wear, including dings and compressions throughout the forearm and buttstock. The bore is described on the accompanying inventory tag as being in very good condition. The action appears to function correctly and the bolt cycles smoothly, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The green fabric sling shows minor fraying and fading but is functional.
