Description

This lot features 67 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition produced by the Tula Cartridge Plant in the Soviet Union. These cartridges are constructed with bottlenecked steel cases finished in a protective olive-drab lacquer to prevent corrosion during long-term storage. The projectiles are full metal jacket (FMJ) types with a lead-wrapped steel core, showing a dark blued finish on the exposed bullet surfaces. Each round features moisture-resistant red lacquer sealant at both the case neck and the primer pocket. The ammunition utilizes Berdan primers and is marked with factory and date codes on the headstamps. Prominent markings on the base of the cartridges include the factory designation 539 at the 12 o’clock position and two-digit year codes at the 6 o’clock position. Visible year markings within this lot include 539 80, 539 82, 539 83, and 539 84, confirming production dates between 1980 and 1984.

Condition report:

The ammunition is in good military surplus condition. The lacquered steel cases show light surface wear and minor scuffing typical of bulk storage, but they remain free of heavy oxidation or significant rust. The red sealant at the primers and case mouths is mostly intact and retains a bright color. The projectile tips show some age-related discoloration and light fading of the original blued finish. The primers are properly seated and show no signs of previous firing attempts. The rounds appear to be live and well-preserved.
