Sold for: $325
Description
This Romanian Model 1944 Mosin-Nagant is a bolt-action military carbine chambered in 7.62x54mmR, featuring the characteristic side-folding cruciform spike bayonet. The firearm is constructed with a blued steel receiver and barrel, mounted in a full-length wood stock with a straight wrist and finger-grooved forend. The barrel is equipped with a hooded post front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated to 1,000 meters. Key markings on the barrel shank include the Romanian RPR crest, the manufacturing year 1 9 5 4, the serial number DX945, and a triangle containing an upward-pointing arrow which is consistent with a Soviet Izhevsk proof. The magazine floorplate bears the matching serial number DX945, while the bolt handle is marked BD00618 and the buttplate is stamped 1262, indicating these components are non-matching. The left side of the buttstock is marked with an 02 stamp. Import markings on the right side of the barrel include C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT, M44 ROMANIA 7.62x54R, and MADE IN ROMANIA. The carbine is complete with a tan canvas sling featuring leather dog-collar style keepers and a steel buttplate. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The carbine is in good overall condition. The blued finish on the metal surfaces shows typical wear and thinning at the muzzle, bolt handle, and high edges consistent with military service. The wood stock displays numerous dings, scratches, and handling marks but remains solid without major cracks. The bore has not been inspected. The bolt action appears to function correctly and locks up firmly. The side-folding bayonet operates smoothly and locks securely in both the stowed and deployed positions. The canvas sling shows light soiling and the leather keepers remain supple.
