Description
This single-shot rolling block rifle is a Swedish Model 1867/89, originally produced in 1872 and later arsenal-updated in 1893 to the 8x58R Danish chambering. The rifle features a blued barrel and receiver assembly paired with a light-colored wood stock and forend. The sighting arrangement includes a front blade sight and a rear ladder sight graduated from 300 to 600 meters. Verbatim markings include a crowned C above the date 1872 on the left receiver flat, and the serial number 15170 below the inspector initials L.B. P.S. on the right receiver flat. The top barrel flat is marked with a crowned C and the letters P.B. G.M. while the left side of the barrel displays the conversion number 25999/93. The wood forend is stamped with the year 1893, and the serial number 15170 is found matching on the stock behind the receiver and the buttplate tang, confirming all matching numbers as per the user specifications. A brass unit disk is inset into the right side of the buttstock and is inscribed with 10 R, B, and No 1994. The furniture is completed with two sling swivels and a smooth metal buttplate. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good overall condition, with the blued finish showing thinning on high points and some scattered light surface oxidation consistent with its age. The wood stock and forend exhibit various handling dings, scratches, and minor compressions but remain structurally sound without major cracks. The bore was not inspected, but the muzzle crown remains clean. All stamped markings are clear and legible. The rolling block action appears to function correctly when cycled, though we have not function-tested this firearm for safety or live firing.
