Lot 277:
Sold for: $120
Description
This lot consists of 144 rounds of .30-06 Springfield ammunition, primarily comprised of United States military surplus from the World War II era. The collection includes a variety of projectile types, with visible identifiers including silver-tipped incendiary rounds and green-tipped armor-piercing incendiary variants. The cartridges are loose and accompanied by four plain white cardboard boxes, two of which bear vintage price labels from an Idaho-based retailer. Verbatim headstamp markings observed on the brass casings include WCC 45 for Western Cartridge Company 1945, SL 45 for St. Louis Ordnance Plant 1945, LC 45 for Lake City Ordnance Plant 1945, DM 42 for Des Moines Ordnance Plant 1942, and TW 42 for Twin Cities Ordnance Plant 1942. These 144 rounds of 30-06 SPRG ammunition exhibit a range of surface conditions typical for aged military surplus stored in varied environments.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in varied, aged surplus condition. Many brass cases exhibit significant tarnishing, surface oxidation, and spots of green verdigris corrosion, particularly around the primers and case necks. The projectiles show surface oxidation and some degradation of the colored tip identifiers. While the ammunition appears to be live, the functionality and reliability of the primers and powder cannot be guaranteed due to the age and visible corrosion resulting from long-term storage.
