Description

This is a Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I bolt action rifle chambered in .303 British, a primary service arm for British and Commonwealth forces during World War II. The rifle features a 25.2 inch barrel and a full-length two-piece wood stock with upper handguards and a metal buttplate containing a trapdoor for a cleaning kit. The dark metal finish exhibits wear and thinning consistent with military service. Key markings include the model designation No 4 MK I on the left side of the receiver, alongside dot-matrix import marks reading C.I.A. GEORGIA VT., CAL. .303 ENGLAND, and SER. MK411373. The left side of the butt socket is stamped with a broad arrow proof, the year 1943, and the original serial number 14727 preceded by the letters AK. The rifle is equipped with a detachable ten-round box magazine, a flip-up ladder-style rear aperture sight, and a front blade sight protected by robust ears. The wood furniture shows various dings, scratches, and handling marks typical of a surplus firearm. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The rifle is in good surplus condition overall. The metal components retain a significant amount of their dark finish with moderate thinning on the barrel and receiver edges, along with scattered areas of light surface oxidation and minor handling scratches. The wood stock is structurally sound, showing an even oil finish with numerous small dings, pressure marks, and scratches from military service and storage. The bore has not been inspected, but the action operates smoothly and the magazine spring provides good tension. The sights and small parts are present and functional.
