Description
This Finnish M39 bolt action rifle is a rugged and refined variant of the Mosin-Nagant system, chambered in 7.62x54R. The rifle is equipped with a 27 inch barrel featuring a protected front post and a tangent rear sight graduated for range. The metal components exhibit a thinning blued finish on a traditional hexagonal receiver. The firearm is fitted with a two piece arctic birch stock characterized by a semi pistol grip and a circular cartouche on the buttstock displaying an S over the number 43. Key markings on the barrel shank include the SA Finnish Army property mark in a rectangular box, the diamond shaped VKT logo for Valtion Kivaaritehdas, a D chamber modification stamp, the production year 1941, and the serial number 44148. This serial number is matched on the receiver, while the bolt handle is stamped with the shortened number 4148. The magazine floorplate features the number 4405, positioned below a struck through earlier number 113931. Modern import markings are visible near the muzzle, specifying 7.62X54 and M-39 FINLAND TG KNOX TN. The rifle includes its original integrated box magazine and a cleaning rod. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in used military surplus condition. The metal surfaces show moderate wear and thinning to the blued finish, particularly on high points and the barrel, with minor areas of oxidation present. The arctic birch stock is structurally sound but displays numerous dings, scratches, and handling marks consistent with its service history. The bore retains strong rifling with some darkness and frosting visible in the grooves. The bolt action appears to function smoothly, though the rifle has not been function tested for live fire.
