Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 310:
Sold for: $110
Description
This lot comprises eighty-five rounds of .303 British military-surplus ammunition organized onto five-round steel stripper clips. The cartridges are constructed with brass cases showing distinct annealing at the neck and shoulder, paired with copper-jacketed spitzer bullets. Each primer pocket features a green lacquer sealant. Verbatim markings transcribed from the cartridge headstamps include H C P 9 and R N 4 4. The stripper clips are manufactured from black-finished steel, with at least one clip bearing the stamped letters B and P. The entire collection is housed in two plain white cardboard boxes. The ammunition appears to be in its original military configuration.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in good overall condition and appears to be live. The brass cases exhibit a natural patina and some mild age-related tarnishing, particularly around the annealed shoulder areas. The copper bullets are well-seated and remain free of significant oxidation. The black-finished steel stripper clips show some light surface oxidation and minor thinning of the finish from handling. The cardboard boxes show minor shelf wear and light soiling consistent with storage.
