Turkish Model 1938 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle 8mm Mauser 1943
Sold for: $425
Description
This is a Turkish Republic Model 1938 bolt-action rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser. The rifle is configured with a standard length barrel and features a blued finish showing significant wear and thinning throughout the metal components. The receiver ring is prominently stamped with the Turkish Republic T C crescent moon and star insignia, followed by AS FA, ANKARA, K.KALE, and the date 1943. The left side of the receiver and the rear sight base are marked with the serial number 131745. A dot-matrix import stamp is located on the barrel near the muzzle and reads C.A.I. GEORGIA VT. TURKEY 1938 8MM. The rifle is mounted in a full-length walnut stock with a straight-grip buttstock, a steel buttplate, and dual sling swivels. The stock exhibits numerous dings, scratches, and handling marks consistent with military use. Sights consist of a front blade and a rear tangent ladder sight graduated from 100 to 2,000 meters. The rifle includes a cleaning rod and a bayonet lug. An accompanying handwritten tag states that the bolt is non-matching and notes a strong bore with some etching at the muzzle. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces retain a fair amount of original blued finish, which shows significant thinning and silvering on high edges, along with areas of surface oxidation and light pitting, most notably on the receiver and bolt assembly. The walnut stock is in good service condition with numerous small dings and impressions throughout, but no visible cracks. The bore is reported by the previous owner to be strong with some etching near the muzzle, though it has not been independently graded. The bolt action appears to function smoothly, although the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. All major metal furniture and the cleaning rod are present and show moderate wear.
