Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 333:
Sold for: $550
Description
This is a Yugoslavian Model 59/66 semi-automatic rifle, a derivative of the SKS design chambered in 7.62x39mm. The firearm is equipped with its standard military features, including an integral folding blade bayonet, an under-barrel cleaning rod, and a muzzle-mounted grenade launcher attachment with a corresponding flip-up ladder-style grenade sight. The barrel and receiver exhibit a blued finish, and the rifle is mounted in a wooden stock that has been fitted with an aftermarket black rubber recoil pad. Prominent markings include MDL 59/66 7.62×39 YUGO and the importer mark C.A.I. GEORGIA VT on the barrel. The serial number J-334162 is consistently stamped and matching on the receiver, bolt carrier, fixed ten-round box magazine, and the right side of the buttstock. Additionally, the stock features carved trench art in Cyrillic characters, with РАМО appearing on the left side and ГОЦА on the right side. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not live-fire tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good surplus condition, retaining a high percentage of its blued finish with some thinning on the high edges and minor handling marks on the metal surfaces. The bore is bright with strong, clear rifling. The wooden stock displays various dings, surface scratches, and pressure dents consistent with military service, and the trench art carvings are clearly defined. The folding bayonet, grenade sight, and cleaning rod are all present and functional. The rubber recoil pad shows light wear but is securely attached.
