Lot 332:
Sold for: $40
Description
A collection of service uniform components and headgear belonging to the Hesse State Police (Landespolizei Hessen), West Germany, dating from the late Cold War period. The grouping follows the moss green and beige color scheme designed by Heinz Oestergaard and adopted in 1976. The set includes a moss green visor cap (Schirmmütze) featuring a black patent leather visor and a green and silver chin cord. The cap is fitted with a metallic gold-toned police star insignia (Polizeistern) centered with the Hessian coat of arms. Also included is a moss green M43-style cloth field cap (Feldmütze) with a two-button front and a sewn-on triangular patch depicting the Hessian police star. The clothing consists of a cream-colored ribbed-knit duty sweater with a green shield-shaped patch on the left breast, and a dark green synthetic fiber parka or rain jacket with brass-toned buttons and a matching shoulder patch. The embroidered patches on the sweater and jacket bear the text POLIZEI above the Hessian coat of arms, which features a crowned shield with a lion rampant in horizontal red and white stripes on a blue field.
Condition report:
The items appear to be in good issued surplus condition. Visible wear is consistent with service use, including minor surface pilling on the knit sweater and slight fading to the fabric of the field cap. The visor cap retains its structure, and all insignias, buttons, and patches remain securely attached. No significant tears, holes, or heavy staining are observed.
