Description
This lot features a single Baikal Model IJ-70 semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm Makarov. Manufactured in Russia and imported by KBI Inc., this double/single-action handgun features a 3.68-inch barrel and a blued steel finish. The pistol is fitted with black checkered polymer grips featuring a molded five-pointed star within a circle; the star on the left grip has been highlighted with yellow paint. The slide is equipped with an adjustable rear sight which has orange paint applied to the face, and a fixed front blade. Prominent markings include BAIKAL IJ-70, KBI INC HBG PA, and MADE IN RUSSIA on the left side of the slide. The right side of the slide is engraved with IJ-70 and Cal. 9mm Makarov. The right side of the frame bears the serial number J036301, and a secondary, fainter marking that reads АДН 2828. The grips are also marked Baikal and Made in Russia. Accessories included with the pistol are one detachable single-stack magazine and a brown leather flap holster. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The original blued finish shows significant thinning and wear on high edges and throughout the slide and frame. There are areas of light surface pitting and scattered handling marks present on the metal surfaces. The polymer grips are in good condition with crisp checkering, though the yellow paint on the left star is worn. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, but we have not function-tested this firearm. The included leather holster shows moderate age-related scuffing, cracking on the strap, and light verdigris on the metal rivets. The magazine shows finish wear consistent with use.
