Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 373:
Sold for: $75
Description
This lot consists of sixty rounds of .30-06 Springfield (SPRG) M2 ball ammunition, which is organized onto twelve 5-round steel stripper clips. The ammunition is contained within a vintage military-style khaki canvas six-pocket bandolier that includes an integrated woven shoulder strap. Three cardboard ammunition boxes are partially visible within the pockets, corresponding with the standard military configuration for 60-round bandoliers intended for use with the M1903 Springfield and M1 Garand rifles. The rounds feature rimless brass cases and copper-jacketed spitzer bullets typical of mid-20th-century military production. No manufacturer marks or headstamps are clearly visible in the provided images, though the ensemble is consistent with United States military surplus.
Condition report:
The ammunition cases exhibit an age-related patina with varying degrees of surface oxidation and tarnishing. The steel stripper clips show some evidence of surface rust and finish wear. The canvas bandolier is in used condition, displaying overall wear, staining, and fraying at the edges; a small puncture is noted on one pocket flap. The ammunition appears to be live and intact, although its functional reliability has not been tested.
