Description

This single-shot bolt-action shotgun is an Indian Ishapore conversion of a Short Magazine Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III rifle originally manufactured by BSA in 1917 and converted to .410 gauge for police or guard use in 1931. The firearm features a 25.2-inch barrel and is configured in a single-shot capacity with a wooden block pinned into the magazine well to preclude the use of a standard detachable magazine. The metal surfaces exhibit a black-painted finish typical of Ishapore arsenals, and the firearm is fitted with a full-length wooden stock and a brass buttplate with a trapdoor. It is equipped with standard military-pattern iron sights, including a winged front blade and a rear tangent sight. Key markings include .410 / RFI / 1931 on the right wrist socket and a crown over SHTLE / III on the left wrist socket. The receiver ring is stamped with the serial number O 17808, and the left side of the receiver bears the import mark IAI ST ALB VT. We have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The metal components retain a majority of the black paint finish with visible thinning and wear on the bolt, receiver rails, and high edges. The wooden stock displays typical handling dings, scratches, and impressions consistent with service use but remains free of significant cracks. The bore is somewhat bright with evidence of light frosting throughout. The bolt action cycles smoothly and the trigger mechanism appears to function correctly, though the firearm has not been test-fired.
