Description
This lot consists of two pieces of service apparel from West Germany dating to the Cold War period. The first item is an olive green quilted uniform jacket utilized by the West German State Police. It features a high stand-up collar, a full-length vertical zipper, and a diamond-quilted interior lining. The left sleeve is adorned with an embroidered patch for the Polizei Hessen, displaying the state’s coat of arms which features a red and white striped lion rampant on a blue shield beneath a golden crown.
The second item is a standard-issue utility shirt in a grey-green shade. It is constructed with a button-down front and two pleated chest pockets with button-flap closures. An interior collar label identifies the manufacturer as Kolner Waschefabrik and includes the date code 9/80, indicating production in September 1980. The label also lists the NATO Stock Number 8415-12-178-3171, where the 12 country code signifies West Germany. The material is specified as a polyester and cotton blend (Polyester/Baumwolle), and the size is marked as 37/38 (Gr. Nr. 2).
Condition report:
Both items are in issued condition. The quilted jacket shows minor surface wear and some fraying to the edges of the embroidered sleeve patch. The utility shirt exhibits typical fading and softening of the fabric consistent with use and laundering.
