Description
This Springfield Armory Model 1903 bolt-action rifle has been modified for sporting use and is chambered in .30-06 Springfield. It features a 24-inch barrel with a blued finish and a blade front sight on a banded base. Key markings include the receiver designation U.S. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1903 and the serial number 1418851. Barrel markings specify SA above an ordnance flaming bomb symbol and the date 7-18, indicating the barrel was manufactured in July 1918. The rifle is fitted with a custom hardwood sporting stock featuring a high-comb cheekpiece for a right-handed shooter, a flared pistol grip, and two sling swivel studs. The receiver is equipped with a base for a side-mounted peep sight on the right side. The buttstock is finished with a red rubber recoil pad marked ANTI-FLINCH RECOIL PAD with patent dates of OCT 12 1915 and SEP 20 1927. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal components exhibit a blued finish with visible thinning and handling wear, particularly along the barrel and at the muzzle. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The custom wood stock retains a high-gloss finish with scattered light scratches, dings, and surface impressions consistent with field use. The red rubber recoil pad shows typical signs of aging and hardening but remains intact. The bore was not inspected.
