Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 408:
Sold for: $300
Description
This is a Spanish semi-automatic pistol, specifically a Model 1912 manufactured by Hijos de A. Echeverria in Eibar. Chambered in 7.65mm (.32 ACP), this early semi-automatic handgun is a precursor to the widely produced Ruby-pattern pistols used extensively during World War I. The firearm features an approximately 3.5-inch barrel, fixed blade front sight, and notched rear sight. The metal surfaces were originally finished in a commercial-grade bluing that has since aged and thinned. The furniture consists of two-piece checkered walnut grip panels secured by two screws, with a lanyard loop mounted on the lower left side of the frame. Key markings include the left side of the slide stamped -CAL 7.65 HIJOS DE A. ECHEVERRIA – EIBAR- over 1912 VEST PATENT. The serial number 83850 is stamped on the right side of both the frame and the slide. The manufacturer logo, consisting of the letters HE inside an oval, is present on the left rear of the frame and on the floorplate of the included detachable single-stack magazine. The magazine floorplate is stamped with a mismatched serial number 22851. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish shows significant thinning throughout, having largely transitioned to a gray-brown patina. Areas of surface oxidation and light pitting are present across the slide, frame, and magazine. The bore was not inspected. The action appears to function correctly through manual cycling, although the pistol has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The checkered wooden grips are in fair condition, displaying darkening from handling, minor dings, and moderate smoothing of the checkering. The magazine is functional but exhibits surface rust and pitting.
