Description

This is a single hardwood stock for a US Military M1 Carbine (.30 caliber). The item is a low-wood variant, which is identified by the reduced wood profile along the operating rod channel on the right side. This design modification was introduced during World War II to address cracking issues found in earlier high-wood versions. The stock is carved from hardwood, appearing to be walnut or birch, and contains factory-standard cutouts for the receiver, trigger housing, magazine well, and barrel. The buttstock features a recessed sling well on the right side to accommodate an oiler and a vertical slot on the left side for a sling attachment. This stock is stripped of all metal hardware, including the buttplate, recoil plate, and barrel band. Visual inspection confirms there are no legible manufacturer stamps, ordnance marks, or inspector cartouches present on the wood surfaces.

Condition report:

The stock is in good used condition and has been stripped of all metal components. The wood has a light, natural appearance, suggesting the original oil finish may have been removed or the item was never final-finished. Scattered minor dings, shallow scratches, and handling marks are present throughout, consistent with military use or long-term storage. There are no major cracks or structural repairs visible in the provided images.
