Description

This is a German military leather pistol holster designed for the Luger P.08 sidearm. The holster is constructed from dark leather, originally black or dark brown, and features the standard wrap-around top flap secured by a pull-strap and metal catch mechanism. The reverse side is fitted with a single wide belt loop. A distinctive feature of this specimen is the period field repair or reinforcement consisting of thick leather thong lacing applied along the bottom seam. Stamped markings on the reverse belt loop include the digits 88 positioned above 2060 38. The metal catch is stamped with a Waffenamt military acceptance proof consisting of a stylized eagle over the letters WaA.

Condition report:

The holster is in well-worn, field-used condition. The leather exhibits significant surface scuffing, age-related cracking, and stiffness, with notable finish loss along the edges and high points. The metal catch hardware shows oxidation and loss of original finish. The leather pull-strap is intact but shows heavy wear. The theater-applied leather lacing remains secure and intact.
