Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 475:
Sold for: $55
Description
This lot consists of sixteen original rounds of German military 9mm Luger ammunition, specifically the Pistolenpatronen 08 m.E. (mit Eisenkern) variant featuring a sintered iron core projectile. These cartridges are constructed with green-lacquered steel cases and black-finished projectiles, typical of wartime production standards for conservation of critical materials. The ammunition is contained within its original brown cardboard box which features a blue and tan paper label detailing the various component manufacturers and dates. Prominent verbatim markings on the label include 16 Pistolenpatronen 08 m. E. and 1943 emp 4, indicating final assembly by Dynamit A.G. in 1943. The label further specifies components as Nz.Stb.P.n/A. (0,8 * 0,8) – rdf 1941/11 for the propellant, Patrh.: (Stahl) + lackiert 1942 emp 10 for the steel cases manufactured in 1942, Gesch. m. E.: 1943 emp 4 for the iron-core bullets, Kern: 1943 afu 1 for the cores, and Zdh. 08: 1941 fan 160 for the primers. The individual cartridge headstamps are marked 42, emp, St+, and 10. The interior of the box lid is stamped with the manufacturer code and date ftf 1942, and the lower label edge is marked F 0329.
Condition report:
The ammunition appears to be in live, original condition with visible age-related patina and scattered surface oxidation on the steel cases and projectiles. The green lacquer finish on the cases remains largely intact but shows minor thinning and spots of corrosion. The black-coated projectiles exhibit localized surface rust and wear. The original cardboard box shows moderate shelf wear, including surface staining, corner fraying, and minor tears at the flap seams, while the printed label remains mostly legible with some fading and localized paper loss.
