Description

A trio of walnut wood rifle handguards of the pattern typically used on late 19th and early 20th-century military rifles, such as the Mauser Model 1893 or U.S. Krag-Jorgensen. Each piece is crafted from a single piece of walnut and features a prominent rectangular cutout designed to accommodate a rear sight assembly. The handguards are shaped with stepped shoulders at both ends to facilitate the mounting of barrel bands. The interior barrel channels of two pieces feature stamped numerical markings. One is stamped 946201 and the other is stamped 307337. The third handguard has faint, illegible markings in the same location. Two of the handguards possess a dark, seasoned patina, while the third displays a significantly lighter wood tone.

Condition report:

Overall good surplus condition. All three pieces exhibit signs of service wear consistent with age and use, including scattered dings, surface scratches, and oil staining. The metal spring clips used to secure the handguards to the rifle barrel are missing from all three examples.
