Description
This Mauser Model 1908 is a bolt-action military rifle manufactured by Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) in Berlin, chambered for the 7x57mm Mauser cartridge. The rifle is configured with a 29-inch barrel, a full-length wood stock with a matching handguard, and a steel buttplate. It is equipped with a blade front sight and a tangent-style rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The furniture is secured by two steel barrel bands, and the rifle retains its bayonet lug and cleaning rod. The receiver and bolt were originally finished in the white, while the barrel and other components were blued. Key markings include DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN. BERLIN on the left receiver rail. The left side of the receiver ring is stamped PM 01130.16 above MOD. 1908. The top of the receiver ring displays a faint crest above SER. 190800069 and B 1 2 1 1, with a circled B marking. The bolt handle is marked with partial serial 97 83 and a circled B, while the magazine floorplate is stamped 60 m and 1211. The full serial number is 190800069. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal finish has largely transitioned to a grey-brown patina with scattered surface oxidation and evidence of light cleaning. The steel buttplate exhibits heavy pitting and surface rust. The wood stock and handguard show significant handling wear consistent with military service, including numerous pressure dings, scratches, and a large chip missing from the toe of the buttstock. The bore is a frosty bore with visible rifling but some darkening and light pitting. The bolt action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
