Description

Swiss Model 1957 (M57) military bayonet and matching scabbard, manufactured by Wenger for use with the SIG 510 (Sturmgewehr 57) battle rifle. The weapon features a double-edged spear-point blade made of stainless steel with a matte blackened finish. The hilt consists of a crossguard with a muzzle ring and a pommel with a functional spring-loaded locking mechanism. The grips are composed of black grooved synthetic polyamide and are secured by a central screw and nut. The accompanying scabbard is constructed from black molded plastic with a metal throat and a steel frog stud. Markings include the Wenger maker mark of a W inside a circle and serial number 54571 on the ricasso. The grips display molded numbers 36 – 190 – 2 and 36 – 190 – 3. The tang area is stamped 36-189-6.
Blade Length: 7 inches
Total Length: 11 inches.

Condition report:

The bayonet is in very good surplus condition. The blade retains a high percentage of its original matte finish, with some surface wear and thinning at the edges and tip from scabbard use. The synthetic grips show light handling scuffs but remain intact without cracks. The locking mechanism is functional. The scabbard shows typical surface scratching and scuffing from military service, and the metal throat shows minor finish loss.
