Lot 498:
Sold for: $275
Description
This is a Spanish semi-automatic blowback pistol manufactured by Isidro Gaztanaga in Eibar and chambered in 7.65mm (.32 ACP). Identified as the Destroyer model, this firearm is a variant of the Ruby-type pistols produced in large quantities for military contracts, particularly the French military during the First World War. The pistol features a fixed barrel with a blade front sight and a notched rear sight integrated into the slide assembly. The metal surfaces exhibit a blued finish showing extensive thinning, surface oxidation, and areas of light pitting throughout the slide and frame. It is fitted with two-piece checkered wood grips that show darkening and smoothing of the checkering from handling and use. The frame includes a lanyard ring at the heel of the grip. Verbatim markings on the left side of the slide include CAL 765 PISTOLET AUTOMATIQUE DESTROYER and I. GAZTAÑAGA-EIBAR. The serial number 42677 is clearly stamped on the left side of the slide and frame, with the matching partial serial number 677 visible on the barrel through the ejection port. An I.G. monogram within an oval is present on the rear left of the frame and on the floorplate of the included matching serial numbered magazine. The single-stack detachable magazine features eight witness holes. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The pistol is in fair to good condition, showing a heavy patina and significant wear consistent with its age and service history. The original blued finish has thinned considerably, with widespread surface oxidation and light pinprick pitting on the slide and frame. The checkered wood grips are solid with typical dings and smooth points on the checkering. The bore is dark and shows signs of wear to the rifling. The action appears to function correctly and the magazine seats and releases properly, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition.
