Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 518:
Sold for: $55
Description
This lot consists of 20 rounds of centerfire rifle ammunition chambered in 8x50mm Rimmed Mannlicher, as specified in the provided data. The cartridges feature rimmed brass cases with bottlenecked shoulders and are topped with pointed spitzer-style bullets featuring a silver-colored metallic finish, likely cupronickel or nickel-plated steel. The ammunition is stored in a translucent smoke-grey MTM Case-Gard J-20 Series plastic ammunition box. Key markings visible on the headstamps indicate Austro-Hungarian military production from the early 20th century, with characters arranged in four quadrants. Verbatim transcriptions of visible headstamps include W n 15 8, signifying the Wiener Neustadt arsenal in 1915; C R 14 2; and G F 14 4. Red sealant is present around the primers and at the case mouths. This ammunition was typically used in the Steyr-Mannlicher M1895 series of rifles and carbines.
Condition report:
The ammunition appears to be in good surplus condition. The brass cases exhibit varying degrees of tarnish and surface oxidation consistent with age and long-term storage. The projectiles show some dulling and minor oxidation to the silver-colored finish. The red primer and neck sealant remains largely intact across the lot. These items appear to be live ammunition and have not been function-tested. The plastic MTM storage box is in excellent functional condition with no cracks or significant wear.
