Description

This is a sporterized Arisaka Type 99 bolt action rifle, originally produced by the Nagoya Arsenal and subsequently modified for civilian sporting use. The rifle features a barrel approximately 24 inches in length which is stamped with the numerals 3 0 0 on the shank, indicating the firearm has likely been rechambered for the .300 Savage cartridge. The receiver ring retains the original Japanese characters 九九式 for the Type 99 designation, though the imperial chrysanthemum has been removed. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number 36290 and the symbols for the Nagoya Arsenal. The firearm is equipped with a Christy-marked front sight ramp and a folding leaf rear sight. The bolt handle has been bent downward to allow for more ergonomic manipulation. The metal is bedded into a Bishop-branded Monte Carlo-style walnut stock featuring a raised cheekpiece, checkered panels on the wrist and forend, and a black synthetic forend tip and grip cap with white spacers. The rifle is completed with a Bishop-branded checkered buttplate. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The blued metal surfaces show moderate thinning across the barrel and receiver, with areas of light freckling and surface oxidation visible upon inspection. The wood stock remains in good condition, exhibiting standard field wear such as scattered small dings, compression marks, and light scratches, but remains free of significant cracks or repairs. The checkering is well-defined. The bore was not inspected, but the bolt action and trigger appear to function normally; however, we have not function-tested this firearm.
