Description

This lot features a pair of 20-round detachable box stick magazines for the Thompson submachine gun chambered in .45 ACP. Each magazine is constructed of steel and includes four witness holes along the rear spine and a vertical mounting rib with a large circular cutout on the front face. One magazine retains a dark blued finish and is stamped on the side face with the markings AUTO ORDNANCE CORP. BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT REG. IN U.S. PAT. OFF. while the second magazine exhibits a worn gray patina with stamped patent information stating PATENTED-AUG. 24, 1920 and AUG 24, 1920-JAN. 11, 1921. These magazines are consistent with military and civilian issue for M1921 and M1928 Thompson submachine gun configurations.

Condition report:

The magazines exhibit varying degrees of use and finish. One magazine retains approximately 85 percent of its original blued finish with minor surface scratches and handling wear. The other magazine shows significant finish loss resulting in a uniform gray patina with light surface oxidation and scattered surface pitting. The feed lips on both units appear structurally sound and the followers move freely under spring tension, though they have not been function-tested in a firearm.
