Description

This is a sporterized Japanese Arisaka Type 99 bolt action rifle originally produced by the Nagoya Arsenal and subsequently rechambered for the .300 Savage cartridge. The top of the receiver retains a stamped Japanese Imperial Chrysanthemum above a single gas vent hole. Key markings on the left side of the receiver include the series mark, the serial number 61887, the Nagoya Arsenal cloverleaf logo, and a final inspection mark. The left side of the barrel chamber is stamped .300 SAV. indicating its conversion for sporting use. The rifle is equipped with a Marble’s adjustable rear leaf sight stamped MARBLE’S GLADSTONE MICH. U.S.A. while the original military ladder sight has been removed and the original front sight base remains. It is mounted in a custom Bishop wood sporter stock featuring a Monte Carlo cheekpiece, a black forend tip, and a checkered polymer buttplate marked BISHOP. The action appears to function correctly although we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The metal finish shows overall thinning and wear to the bluing with scattered areas of light surface oxidation and minor handling marks. The custom wood stock remains in good condition with a glossy finish showing various dings, light scratches, and handling marks consistent with field use. The bore was not inspected but the external metal components are well-preserved. The action cycles smoothly and the Bishop buttplate is intact with minor wear.
