Lot 561:
Sold for: $375
Description
This is a sporterized Swedish Mauser Model 1894 bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5x55mm, now configured as a scout rifle. The rifle features a military-pattern stepped barrel approximately 17.7 inches in length and a receiver that have both been refinished in a matte light grey textured coating. The wood stock has been customized with a dark brown painted finish and features a case-hardened steel buttplate and floorplate. A long Picatinny-style optic rail is mounted forward of the receiver in place of the original rear sight, currently holding a Bushnell scope with a duplex reticle and an antler logo on the turret caps. The bolt assembly is finished in the white and is equipped with a straight handle. Key markings on the receiver ring include WAFFENFABRIK, MAUSER, OBERNDORF A/N, and the manufacture date 1895. The full serial number 10073 is clearly stamped on the left side of the receiver. This firearm has been heavily modified from its original military configuration, and the original iron sights have been removed. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The non-original light grey textured finish on the barrel and receiver remains mostly intact with only minor handling marks. The dark brown finish on the stock shows significant wear, with prominent chipping and peeling located at the receiver tang and near the tip of the forend. The floorplate and buttplate display bright, iridescent case-hardened colors. The bore was not inspected. While the bolt action appears to cycle smoothly, the rifle has not been function-tested. The scope optics appear clear with a defined reticle.
