Description

This lot consists of 100 rounds of original military surplus 7.92x57mm Mauser ammunition produced in 1940, organized into five cardboard boxes containing 20 rounds each. Manufactured by the Greek Powder and Cartridge Company, also known as Poudrerie et Cartoucherie Hellénique, these cartridges are configured with 198-grain schweres Spitzgeschoß (sS) heavy pointed copper-jacketed lead-core projectiles. The exterior of each box is printed verbatim with 20 / 7,9 sS / P.C.H. / 1940, while the brass cartridge cases feature headstamps with the Greek characters E, K, and Lambda. The primer pockets are finished with a black lacquer sealant. These rounds were produced for Mauser-pattern service rifles prior to the Axis occupation of Greece and represent a significant historical collectible from the early years of World War II.

Condition report:

The cardboard boxes exhibit minor shelf wear, age-related staining, and light compression at the corners. The ammunition itself is in good condition, showing light surface tarnish on the brass cases and minor copper oxidation on the projectiles consistent with long-term storage. The primers are intact and retain their original black sealant. This is vintage surplus ammunition intended for historical collection; the functionality of the powder and primers has not been tested.
