Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 622:
Sold for: $45
Description
This pair of two-cell ammunition pouches is constructed from brown leather with heavy-duty natural-colored stitching. The design is consistent with equipment used for Mauser-pattern rifles by various military and paramilitary organizations during the early to mid-20th century. Each unit features two individual ammunition compartments with top flaps secured by leather straps that fasten to metal studs at the base of each cell. The reverse of each pouch is equipped with two leather belt loops reinforced by metal rivets and a central steel D-ring for attachment to load-bearing equipment. No manufacturer codes, RZM marks, or date stamps are discernibly present on the leather surfaces.
Condition report:
The pouches are in fair, heavily used condition. The leather exhibits significant signs of age, including stiffness, surface cracking, and numerous abrasions. There is a noticeable amount of white residue on the surface, consistent with fat bloom or mildew from long-term storage. One closure strap is detached, while others show significant wear and enlargement around the buttonholes. The metal hardware, including the D-rings and rivets, shows oxidation and surface wear.
