Lot 645:
Sold for: $140
Description
This Japanese bolt-action training rifle is modeled after the Arisaka service rifle and features a smooth bore barrel intended for training or blank ammunition. The receiver is marked with the Kokura Arsenal symbol, consisting of four interlocking circles, and exhibits a defaced or ground area where the Imperial Chrysanthemum crest was originally located. A single gas vent hole is positioned on the top of the receiver. The rifle is equipped with an anti-aircraft style ladder rear sight and a bayonet lug, though the cleaning rod and monopod are missing. The two-piece wood stock shows significant handling wear and includes side-mounted sling swivels. Key markings include a rectangular stamp on the right side of the buttstock containing Japanese characters, positioned above the number 309 painted in white. The bolt is fitted with a spherical handle and a large, textured safety knob. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish shows significant thinning, wear, and scattered surface oxidation throughout the metal surfaces. The smooth bore is relatively clear with some internal darkening. The wood stock exhibits numerous scratches, dings, and handling marks consistent with training use and age. The action appears to function correctly, but the firearm has not been function-tested.
