Description
This Siamese Type 46 bolt-action rifle, manufactured by Tokyo Arsenal for the Kingdom of Siam, is chambered in 8mm Siamese and utilizes a Mauser-pattern action modified with a sliding dust cover. The rifle features a 29.5 inch barrel equipped with a winged front sight and a ladder-style rear sight graduated in Thai numerals. The metal components exhibit a well-worn bluing that has aged into a dark mottled brown patina with scattered surface oxidation and light pitting. Key markings include the Siamese Sudarshana Chakra (Chakra Wheel) crest on the receiver ring above Thai script characters ร.ศ.๑๒๑ (R.S. 121), signifying the Model 1903 designation. The receiver and bolt assembly are stamped with the serial number in Thai numerals ๖๐๓๐๒ (60302). The furniture consists of a full-length wood stock and handguard showing significant age-related wear including numerous dings, scratches, and surface abrasions throughout. The buttplate is equipped with a sliding metal trapdoor for a cleaning kit compartment, and the rifle retains a vintage paper tag with a blue Mauser logo and red text specifying Caliber 8mm. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal finish is in fair condition, having largely transitioned to a dark brown patina with visible oxidation and areas of light pitting, most notably on the receiver and barrel. The bore is dark with visible rifling and some internal oxidation. The wood stock and handguard are in fair, well-used condition with multiple deep dings, scratches, and handling marks consistent with military service. The action cycles properly and the sliding dust cover remains functional. The paper tag shows significant yellowing and edge wear.
