Lot 672:
Sold for: $180
Description
This is a sporterized Italian Model 1891 Carcano bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5x52mm Carcano. The rifle features a full-length barrel equipped with a fixed rear sight and a blade front sight. The metal components including the receiver, barrel, and magazine housing have been refinished in a high-gloss black coating, and the bolt has been modified with a turned-down handle. The military-pattern wood stock has been sporterized by cutting down the forend and removing the handguard, though it retains the original metal buttplate. Extensive markings are visible on the barrel shank including TORINO and the production year 1900 on the top flat, the serial number PP 7224 on the left, and PO on the right. The bolt handle root is stamped with ROCCA. Accompanying the rifle are two brass en-bloc clips, one marked SMI 924 and the other featuring the SMI manufacturer mark and a star next to 30. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces show a thick black refinish that exhibits scattered chips, scratches, and light handling wear throughout. The sporterized wood stock shows various dings and scratches consistent with use, including a visible crack in the wood behind the receiver tang. The bore was not inspected, but the bolt action appears to cycle smoothly; however, we have not function-tested this firearm. The two brass clips show minor oxidation and surface wear but appear to be in good functional condition.
