Lot 684:
Sold for: $650
Description
A Polish Karabinek wz. 29 bolt-action rifle, a derivative of the Mauser 98 system chambered in 8mm Mauser. This firearm features a barrel approximately 23.6 inches in length, equipped with a tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters and a hooded front sight. The metal surfaces exhibit a blued finish with notable wear, thinning, and areas of light oxidation and surface pitting. The receiver ring appears to have been scrubbed of its original Polish crest and date, a trait commonly seen on examples used during the Spanish Civil War. The rifle is mounted in a full-length wood stock with a semi-pistol grip, grasping grooves, a bayonet lug, and a flat steel buttplate. Key markings include the serial number 58392 stamped on the left side of the receiver, the bolt handle, and the left side of the stock; the last two digits 92 are present on the bolt shroud and safety lever. A rear barrel band is stamped 8MM, and a gold-toned Interarms, Limited, Alexandria, Virginia, service sticker is affixed to the right side of the buttstock. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The overall condition is fair. The original blued finish has thinned significantly, exhibiting a dark patina with scattered surface oxidation and light pitting throughout. The wood stock shows numerous honest handling marks, dings, and scratches consistent with military service. The bore is dark with visible rifling and some frosting. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
