Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 685:
Sold for: $50
Description
A pair of leather ammunition pouches designed to hold stripper clips for Mauser-pattern rifles. The items are visually consistent with mid-20th century Yugoslavian or Serbian M48 military equipment. Each set consists of two individual pouches joined at the back. The construction utilizes heavy-weight leather with prominent off-white contrast stitching. One set is finished in a light tan leather with a pebbled texture, while the second set is a darker brown with a heavy grain and deep patina. Both sets feature two vertical belt loops on the reverse, each reinforced with twin silver-colored rivets at the top and bottom. A metal D-ring is mounted at the top center of each pair for attachment to a harness or Y-straps. The pouches utilize top-folding flaps secured by vertical leather straps that fasten onto metal studs at the base. No manufacturer marks, date stamps, or official military codes are visible on either set.
Condition report:
The light brown set is in very good condition with supple leather and tight stitching. The dark brown set is in fair to good condition, showing significant age and field wear, including heavy surface cracking and crazing on the flaps. All metal hardware is present, with visible oxidation on the darker set.
