Description

This is a sporterized Japanese Arisaka Type 38 bolt-action rifle, originally chambered in 6.5x50mmSR Japanese. The rifle has been configured for sporting use with a shortened barrel and a custom aftermarket stock. The receiver’s top surface features prominent markings including the Japanese kanji characters transcribed as 三八式 for Type 38 and a partially defaced or ground Imperial Japanese chrysanthemum mark. The left side of the receiver is stamped with the serial number 44186 followed by a series mark. The rifle is mounted in a Bishop-brand wood stock featuring a Monte Carlo-style comb, an integrated cheekpiece, and decorative diamond-shaped light wood inlays on the buttstock and forend. A stippled panel on the underside of the forend is carved with stylized letters G, D, and P. Optics include a Bushnell 4x Banner scope with a post and crosshair reticle, mounted to the receiver with period rings and bases. The rifle is fitted with a front sight ramp on the barrel and a Bishop-marked ventilated recoil pad at the butt. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The blued metal finish shows significant thinning and wear consistent with field use, with areas of surface oxidation and light pitting scattered along the barrel and receiver. The bore was not inspected. The bolt action and trigger appear to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The Bishop stock is in good structural condition but shows numerous scratches, pressure dings, and handling marks throughout. The scope optics are clear, and the reticle is intact.
