Lot 688:
A Lot of 140 Rounds of Turkish Military Surplus 8mm Mauser Ammunition on Stripper Clips
Sold for: $60
Description
This lot consists of 140 rounds of Turkish military surplus 8mm Mauser ammunition, organized into two khaki cotton canvas bandoliers. Each round is chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser and features a rimless brass case with a full metal jacket projectile, specifically utilizing a silver-colored cupronickel-style jacket. The cartridges are loaded onto five-round brass stripper clips, with two clips intended for each of the seven pockets found on each bandolier. The bandoliers themselves are constructed from a rugged woven cotton fabric with individual compartments designed for military field carry. No visible manufacturer markings or headstamps can be discerned from the provided images, but the components, clip design, and fabric configuration are consistent with mid-20th-century Turkish military specifications.
Condition report:
The ammunition remains in good surplus condition with the brass cases exhibiting a natural aged patina, surface tarnish, and localized spots of oxidation. The projectiles show characteristic dulling of the jacket finish consistent with age. The brass stripper clips appear structurally sound with expected surface wear and tarnish. The two cotton canvas bandoliers show significant evidence of age and long-term storage, including fraying at the edges, loose threads, light staining, and overall fading of the khaki fabric. The ammunition appears to be live; however, we have not function-tested these cartridges.
