Description
This British Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I* is a classic bolt-action military rifle chambered in .303 British. It features a standard 25.2 inch barrel fitted with a protected front blade sight and a flip-up ladder rear sight. The receiver and barrel are finished in a blackened military coating showing significant service wear, thinning, and areas of surface patina. The rifle is equipped with a full-length wooden stock and handguards that display various scratches, dings, and handling marks consistent with military use. A distinctive feature is the right side of the buttstock, which has been carved with the initials O.B and a B within a triangle. Key markings include No 4 MK I* (FTR) above the serial number K30673 on the left side of the receiver, where FTR signifies a Factory Thorough Repair. The wrist band is stamped M 47 C and dated 1944, indicating production by BSA Shirley. The firearm is fitted with a detachable 10-round box magazine, two sling swivels, and a metal buttplate with a trapdoor. The action appears to function correctly, though the rifle has not been function-tested for safety. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal components retain a fair amount of their blackened finish with notable thinning on the receiver and barrel, accompanied by a light surface patina. The wooden stock remains solid with no major cracks observed, although it shows numerous service-related dents and scratches along its length. The bore condition was not inspected, but the exterior metal shows standard wear for a surplus firearm. The bolt cycles smoothly and the magazine seats firmly. The rear ladder sight and front sight protectors are intact.
