Lot 703:
140 Rounds of Turkish 8mm Mauser Ammunition on Stripper Clips in Bandoliers
Sold for: $60
Description
A collection of 140 rounds of Turkish military surplus 8mm Mauser (7.92x57mm) rifle ammunition. The lot consists of cartridges mounted on brass stripper clips, each holding five rounds, and housed within cotton canvas bandoliers. The ammunition features rimless brass casings and spitzer-style bullets with cupro-nickel jackets, characterized by their distinct silver-colored tips. The bandoliers are constructed from a coarse, light-tan cotton webbing with individual pockets and stitched dividers. Faded ink stamps are visible on the surface of the cloth pouches, though the characters are not clearly legible.
Condition report:
The ammunition and bandoliers show signs of age and storage consistent with military surplus. The brass cartridge cases and stripper clips exhibit a natural dark patina and minor surface oxidation. The cupro-nickel bullet jackets show varying degrees of oxidation and discoloration. The canvas bandoliers remain intact but exhibit light fraying at the edges, surface soiling, and fading to the ink markings.
