Lot 708:
Sold for: $110
Description
This lot consists of 100 rounds of 8mm Mauser ammunition, specifically the Austrian and German 8x56mmR M.30 scharfe S-Patronen variety manufactured in 1938. The collection is comprised of ten original cardboard boxes, with each box containing 10 rounds, accompanied by two steel en bloc clips loaded with cartridges. The cartridges are configured with rimmed brass casings and pointed copper-jacketed bullets. The boxes and headstamps display significant historical markings, including the German eagle over swastika and the Austrian double-headed eagle. Key markings found on the box labels include 10 Stück 8 mm M. 30 scharfe S-Patronen and the letter B, alongside manufacturer codes such as P 635, Rottw., and Stfbk. Production dates varying across the boxes include IV. 1938, V. 1938, VIII. 1938, X. 1938, and XII. 1938. One visible headstamp on a cartridge displays VIII, 19, 38, and a German national emblem. The two included steel en bloc clips are of the standard pattern utilized for the Steyr-Mannlicher M1895 rifle.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in good military surplus condition. The brass cartridge cases and copper bullet jackets show a natural aged patina with occasional spots of minor surface oxidation and darkening consistent with age. The steel en bloc clips exhibit their original dark finish with some surface oxidation and wear from handling. The cardboard packaging shows typical signs of long-term storage, including staining, edge fraying, and minor tears, though the printed text and official stamps remain clear and legible. This is live ammunition and has not been function-tested.
