Lot 79:
Sold for: $110
Description
This lot consists of 54 rounds of Italian military ammunition for the Model 1938 Carcano rifle, chambered in 7.35x51mm. The collection includes three original cardboard boxes, each containing three six-round steel en-bloc clips. The cartridges are constructed with brass cases and copper-jacketed round-nose projectiles. The clips feature a black oxide finish and are loaded with six rounds each. Prominent verbatim markings on the packaging include SOCIETA METALLURGICA ITALIANA and STABILIMENTO DI CAMPO TIZZORO or STABILIMENTO DI FORNACI DI BARGA. Further text specifies N. 3 CARICATORI DI CARTUCCE A PALLOTTOLA, CAL. 7,35, PER ARMI MOD. 38, and POLVERE ALLA NITROCELLULOSA PURA. The boxes display production dates of 1938 and 1939. The clips and cartridge headstamps are marked with the manufacturer’s code SMI and the date 39. This original military surplus ammunition is provided in its period packaging, showing the specific plants of manufacture in the Tuscany region of Italy.
Condition report:
The ammunition remains in good vintage condition. The brass cartridge cases show consistent light toning and minor surface oxidation typical of age. The copper-jacketed projectiles appear well-preserved with light discoloration. The steel en-bloc clips retain most of their original black finish with some edge wear and minor surface contact marks. The original cardboard boxes are structurally intact but display shelf wear, including edge fraying, surface toning, and some localized creases. One box features a pull tab that is partially separated. The printed and stamped markings remain clear and highly legible. The ammunition is sold as a collector\'s item and its functional reliability is not guaranteed.
