Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 97:
Sold for: $70
Description
This lot consists of a total of 150 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition manufactured by the Federal Cartridge Corporation, divided into three original cardboard boxes. Each box contains 50 cartridges of match-grade ball ammunition specifically designated for the M1911 pistol. The cartridges are constructed with brass casings and copper-jacketed round-nose projectiles. Verbatim markings on the front of each box include 50 CARTRIDGES, BALL MATCH, CALIBER .45 M1911, LOT FC 1915, and FEDERAL CARTRIDGE CORPORATION. The internal packaging features a compartmentalized divider system common in mid-20th-century ammunition manufacturing; an inspection of an opened box reveals the cartridges arranged vertically within the cardboard insert. This quantity of 150 rounds of match grade ammunition is representative of mid-century target competition supplies.
Condition report:
The three cardboard boxes are in good overall condition, showing expected shelf wear, minor staining, and some edge fraying consistent with long-term storage. One box has been opened to display the contents. The ammunition appears to be in stable condition with some oxidation and patina on the copper-jacketed tips and light tarnishing on the brass cases. All rounds appear to be live and intact; however, they have not been function-tested.
