Sold for: $70
Description
This lot features a decorative mallard drake decoy and an accompanying branded wooden crate. The decoy is constructed of carved wood with inset glass-style eyes. The hand-painted finish includes an iridescent green head, a yellow bill with a black tip, a white neck ring, and a chestnut-colored breast with scalloped feather details. The body is painted with gray vermiculated markings, and the wings feature a blue speculum with white and black borders leading to a white tail. The flat bottom of the decoy is finished in black paint and retains two original labels. One label is a white rectangular sticker printed with Made in the People’s Republic of China in both English and Chinese characters. The second is a green oval sticker identifying the manufacturer as Top Gifts in Shenzhen, China, featuring a bird-in-flight logo and a QC passed designation. The crate is constructed from light-colored wood slats. The front panel is stamped with a black ink logo for the Two Rivers Decoy Company, depicting two ducks in flight between cattails.
Condition report:
The decoy is in good condition with minor surface scuffs and small areas of paint wear along the edges and bill. The wooden crate shows typical wear including surface scratches, small chips to the wood edges, and a vertical strip of clear tape residue across the center of the branded logo.
